On the Water

Kayaking on Five Kezars in Lovell and Waterford.

One of the outlets goes through this little dam and then feeds into Kezar Gorge.

August cycling

The skies were clear, but the temperatures were high. It was good to be done by noon. Over 42 miles around Greenwood, Maine.

The pitch of this next climb was a challenge, but you can't tell this from the photo.

The sign on the porch read, The Old Squire's Farm. Local author C.A. Stephens wrote a series of stories back in the late 1800's about cousins living with their grandparents in this part of rural Maine. Those who live here can recognize how close to life these stories are and even see the places that exist.

Next are three views from one of my local rides in Fryeburg Harbor.

And a gravel ride up Wild River Road in the White Mountain National Forest.

Wild River Campground.

Then the abandoned railroad bed degrades to a trail as it follows along the river.

And the bike stops here:

Just before this is a trail junction where one trail crosses the Wild River. A few years back, the Wild River proved its name once again and wiped away what once was a suspension bridge.

It looks a little difficult to cross here now.

Late summer scenes

Cardinal flowers blare their color along the edges of the brook below my house.

In Grafton Notch, the water levels run low at Screw Auger Falls. See how much water flowed over these ledges back in the spring of 2019.

And a morning hike up Lord's Hill reveals blue skies when the summer humidity clears.

Natural fireworks:

A friend once shared photos of fireflies that she had taken so I am still striving to get an image of them that works. Someday maybe I'll get something I like.

In the next photograph you can see a faint light from the summit of Mount Washington.

I haven't photographed a lot of fireworks lately, so there was a lot of experimenting going on during this display.
