April snow
The D600 has returned (and in less than two weeks) from Nikon. The Fuji XF-1 was used for the last two photos. The first photo shows Toll Bridge Cemetary (1818) almost being flooded by the old course of the Saco River. The End of Skiing? With today's rain, was yesterday the last day for cross-country skiing?
The Spring House.
The previous photos were taken with the Moto G. My sister is taking a short trip to Killarney, Ireland today, so I thought I would post this:
Clifden, Co. Galway, 23 September 1996 just as the Celtic Tiger was starting. This was taken on Fujichrome Velvia. Mount Washington HotelOn the west side of the Presidentials, in Bretton Woods, is one of the remaining grand old hotels of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the Mount Washington Hotel. The view from the roadside is spectacular even when the summit of Mount Washington is not visible.
This shows Mount Jefferson behind the hotel with Caps Ridge running up the mountain just above the left end of the building.
Processing the image in Silver Efex Pro (and the Photoshop) brings out the dramatic clouds. The summits from left (north) to right (south) are: Jefferson, Clay, Washington (summit obscured), Monroe, Franklin, and Eisenhower. MeltingThere is still enough snow for cross-country skiing, but everything is melting fast.
Taken with a Moto G and lightened (perhaps too much) in LR.
The Nikon D600 has gone to Nikon under the Service Advisory, so it is back to the D7000 (in this case with the 18-200.) Denmark, Maine
Most of these photos were taken with a circular polarizer. Next are two examples showing the effect of the polarizer at different settings.
I originally stopped to photograph the curves of the water against the snow, but there was the bonus of a beaver in the water.
And then in the background, I could see a heron and ducks when I zoomed the lens.
Great blue heron on the left (this is a crop, so the detail is fuzzy).
And hooded mergansers on the right.
Frozen riverThe Saco River is still largely ice-covered in western Maine. There was predictions for a lot of rain which would clear it out, so I made some photographs of current conditions on Saturday. In the end the heavy rain did not happen here over Sunday, so the ice remains. Upstream from Canal Bridge.
Downstream from Canal Bridge.
Then a walk in the woods. Peary Mountain in Brownfield.
