SnowThe official amount of snow last Wednesday for Lovell was 17", the most in the state.
The snowbanks are almost up to the stop signs.
Saturday we received only a dusting, much less than predicted.
Is it spring?Quite a start to spring: 13" of snow!
No spring flowers here any time soon. Snow removal is so involved when the snow banks are this high that there was not much time left for photos.
Moonset, a couple of days previous. Late winter #3It was below 0ºF again this morning. And yesterday was our equal length day. Last Saturday I walked out to Echo Lake. Well, I wore snowshoes out and carried them back. The snow is deep and hard-packed.
White Horse Ledge is on the left and Cathedral Ledge is on the right. Cathedral Ledge is a well-known rock-climbing center and there is a public road that runs to the top. Here are two closer views of White Horse Ledge edited in Silver Efex Pro.
Next is Mount Washington swathed in clouds.
Then more dramatic clouds.
This cold weather has literally frozen out the maple syrup season.
Late winter #2More fresh snow.
The fresh snow lingered on the trees from a small storm and then there was more snow. (Taken with the Fuji XF-1)
I keep revisiting this lingering elm tree. The snow-covered area in front of it is the frozen brook.
Next is Highland Lake in Bridgton. The hill with the ledges in the back is Sabattus in Lovell and above it, barely visible, is Speckled Mountain in the White Mountain National Forest.
