Founder's Day 2015 reportThe Paris Hill Founder's Day is past for another year. There are still limited edition posters left for sale. Check the Hamlin Library site as they may be selling them online soon. The wet weather affected this year's turnout, but there were still many people there in the afternoon.
Packards galore.

A curb feeler on a Ford retractable hardtop. Summer updatesThis Saturday is Founder's Day on Paris Hill. They will be selling a limited edition (100, signed) 18" x 24" version of the poster as an additional fundraiser for the historical library. Please buy them. Four of us made guesses as to how many will sell. Prove me wrong since I have the lowest guess. The poster looks like this:
Also, another update, this is the Lake Living Magazine cover:
To read the whole magazine, go here. You will find two articles with my photos. Lake Living summer 2015It is about time for a new issue of Lake Living magazine. Do any of you remember last summer's cover shoot blog posting? Well Lilly is back and there were dogs and ice cream involved, but not for photos. The subject of this issue's cover is a Linden Longboard. Follow the link if you want to learn more about Charles Linden's skateboards, or, better still, get your own copy of Lake Living when it comes out. It was windy on location for the shoot: the Causeway in Naples, Maine. Skateboarding may not be normally allowed here, but we received permission for the photo shoot. White caps from Long Lake sprayed water over the sidewalks. Lilly took it easy at first, getting the feel of the longboard.
Then we went to trying various settings and poses.
Laurie loaned Lilly a pair of Italian Raybans (did she get them back?)
We tried a couple of dog photos. (A more placid Brandy Pond in the background.)
One under the Causeway.
A windy Long Lake.
A boat went by, disappearing in the swells.
After the shoot was over it was time for ice cream. Annabelle's this time, a new local brand to me.
One last one:
We'll see which one makes the cover. I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as we enjoyed making them. Casco BaySome friends visited town so we decided on a day trip out to Peaks Island (Casco Bay, off Portland). It was one of those beautiful late spring days. Since we brought bikes, I only took along the Fuji XF-1.
Looking back to Portland from the ferry.
Fort Gorges.
Spring Point Light, South Portland.
Kite-flying at Bug Light Park in South Portland with the city of Portland behind.
Portland from Peaks Island.
Cushing Island on the right and Ram Island Light.
Portland Head Light, Cape Elizabeth shining way back on the mainland behind Cushing Island. You will see this closeup later in the post.
A closer view of Bug Light from the ferry.
Later, in the evening, we went around to Cape Elizabeth (and I switched back to the D600).
So this is Portland Head Light, then Ram Island Light, and Peaks Island back on the horizon to the left.
Looking south down the coast. Far in the background is (are?) Two Lights that I visited earlier this year. See my post here.
The typical image of Portland Head Light and the moon as a bonus.
Looking back up the coast to Portland and Fort Gorges.
Rainbow at sunsetA storm passed through yesterday evening clearing out the unusually warm, humid weather. It left a large rainbow in its wake as the sun set.
The 24 mm focal length lens was not wide enough to capture the full rainbow, so I took two photos and pieced them together with PTGui.
