Spring green
Old-fashioned lilacs -- I have always been challenged by trying to get the lilac color to display well on screen. These appear too red on my screen still, what about yours?
The northern Presidentials seen from Berlin, New Hampshire. There is still some snow up there. The lower elevations are covered with that new spring green.
Mt. Forist hems in the city of Berlin, NH on the southwest side.
Evans Notch, White Mountain National Forest, Maine
Wild River and a footbridge across Wild River in Evans Notch. The river lives up to its name in the spring. There used to be a suspension footbridge here, but is has been replaced a number of times after being washed out.
Serious chop on Long Lake in Naples, Maine. This was taken during a photo shoot for Lake Living Magazine from the Causeway in Naples. SpringMy last post had snow. Not good. I am sure you all are happy to be beyond that. How about hail?
Nice sunsets?
Distant snow?
Some of the southern Presidentials: Mount Franklin, Mount Monroe, and Boot Spur ( a shoulder of Mount Washington).
Intervale and Mount Washington. Or perhaps you would rather see green leaves?
End of snow and iceOur last substantial snow was on April 9th. It was also a last opportunity for cross-country skiing.
A couple days later we went up to Evans Notch where Rte. 113 was still gated.
The Basin Pond, held back by a dam which was the work of the CCC's. By now the ice is out on many lakes, but there was still some on Moose Pond in Bridgton on the 17th.
And then we had our first unusually early thunderstorm of the season this past weekend. Here it is clearing out. The image is processed in Silver Efex Pro.
Early spring hikeThe last day of March a co-worker joined me for an evening hike up Pleasant Mountain. I thought we may need snowshoes, but the trail had been well-packed by those who had gone there before. So it was grips only. Winter was losing its grip.
Looking to the north. Maybe that high peak is Old Speck?
Remember the blueberry post last summer? Well here is what it looks like in March.
Grips and gaiters.
The view from the top of the peak.
Looking down on the Causeway over Moose Pond. Compare this to the summer photo posted here.
Mount Washington again. In late summer there would be blueberries underfoot. Early spring at the seashoreIt started out as a stormy day in southern Maine. Some blowing snow. Chilly. Surf.
These are all near Two Lights in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
The rock formation here looks like petrified wood.
One of the eponymous Two Lights and a sheltered cove. The other lighthouse does not look so much like a lighthouse anymore.
Even a 24mm lens is good at distorting if you tip it up above horizontal.
Remaining wind-blown snow on a chimney.
The mist drew my eye to this scene. I tried to keep it by only doing very minimal adjustment in Lightroom.
See all the snow in the fields just off the shore? These were all taken March 28. |
