Mount EisenhowerThe Presidentials received some snow this fall, but as happens often, most of it melted. This allowed for the perfect opportunity to climb Mount Eisenhower by way of the Edmands Path. This isn't a rugged trail which makes it popular. It is great to get above the treeline again.
In a sheltered section of the trail there was some lingering snow and ice.
Looking toward the southeast. That is Kearsarge on the left horizon.
The long-established Crawford Path winds its way along up Franklin and on towards the summit of Mount Washington.
Pleasant Mountain in Denmark and Bridgton, Maine shows up on the horizon here.
I like that single cloud.
And heading back down. White Mountain cyclingFirst a gravel ride to Mountain Pond near Jackson. November 8
No snow here.
Mountain Pond
And a peek at South Baldface on the left.
Heading back down trying to beat the sunset. Next Province Pond in South Chatham on the eastern side of the White Mountains. December 13
Now there is some snow.
And more
Here is Province Pond. The ride out got a little dark since the headlight had been forgotten at home. This ride was wet, snowy, and rugged enough that the mountain bike was definitely the way to go. These are two rides I want to revisit in 2021. Join me! Northern New Hampshire
And we continue north and west into Dixville and the small but rugged notch.
And here is a glimpse of the Balsams. Will it reopen soon?
Lake Gloriette Cycling the Bear Notch - Conway Loop and a BonusNear the end of the season we finally cycled the Bear Notch Loop. We parked on the West Side Road in Conway, cycled up to US 302 in Bartlett, then turned off and rode over Bear Notch. From there we continued down the Kancamagus Highway and turned off onto Passaconway Road. That ended on West Side Road and we returned to our parked cars. A beautiful ride of course.
Even image stabilization can't remove the shake of an 1/18 second exposure while cycling.
What color!
Onto Passaconway Road.
Later I made two photo stops:
Bonus: An off-road ride revealed these scenes in Sweden.
And here is Mount Washington with snow, as seen from the Causeway in Naples. You can see Baldface to the right.
Fall in VermontWhat are some of the things you think of for autumn in Vermont? Here are a few: covered bridge, foliage, dirt road, apples.
