Kancamagus Highway, December 1

Snow came to stay early in the mountains this year. Along the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire there were high snowbanks by December 1.

Someone erected a snowman at Lower Falls.

But Lily Pond was frozen and snow-covered.

Snowbanks piled high above the cars. The road crew had to literally cut their way through in one of the previous storms: heavy snow downed trees.

Can you catch a glimpse of the road sign buried near the top of the pass in the image above?
