Travel - St. Elmo

St. Elmo is a well-known ghost town in the mountains near Buena Vista, Colorado. It is still privately owned and maintained.

The road into the mountains to St. Elmo seems to be open all winter, although it is probably difficult traveling by car when there is much snow.

The main street through the town. A river runs behind these buildings and there are more buildings on the other side of the river. That road would continue up to Tin Cup, but it was not cleared of snow yet.

When we arrived it was sunny, but afternoon thunderstorms soon started to arrive.

The store, which is open for visitors, was mobbed by the broad-tailed hummingbirds at the feeders.

Nearby is a National Forest Campground and the Iron City Cemetery.
