Hackmatack swamp

Winter's snows make it much easier to visit the hackmatack (or tamarack or larch trees) swamp out back. The wind was blowing out of the north, spreading the snow in clouds and drifts.

This is a haven for wildlife. There were many deer tracks and a beaver lodge.

I think these holes in the top of the lodge are melted from the beavers' breath.

Ski area, Shawnee Peak (on Pleasant Mountain, Bridgton) at night. I wanted to see how the Fuji XF1 did with the low light shot. (Actually, this is my second XF1 as the first one got the sticky aperture failure.)
