Winter ColdThis winter has given us some cold weather. Not -30 degrees F mind you, but -20. These images all represent cold to me. Many involved some frozen fingers.
The next two are from Echo Lake State Park in Conway, NH. White Horse Ledge first and Cathedral Ledge second.
Sunset after an afternoon of cross-country skiing on Kezar Lake Country Club.
Next are seaside images from around Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
That is Ram Island Light seen from Ocean Point. Next is Crawford Notch with Mount Willard catching the late afternoon sun and the Mount Washington Hotel with Mount Eisenhower in the background also.
Fresh snow:
And finally fresh snow in Stow, Maine and North Chatham, NH.
The cold of winter isn't over yet. Sailing Penobscot BayFriends have a sailboat in Rockland, Maine and they invited me out to sail on Penobscot Bay for the day. Morning started with sunrise from Mount Battie in the Camden Hills State Park. The sun is rising over the mountains of Acadia National Park and Camden Harbor is on the right.
Camden Harbor in the foreground and the glint of Owl's Head Light in the distance.
All aboard in Rockland Harbor.

For the black and white images, I used an Ilford HP 5 Plus "film recipe" from Ritchie Roesch as a starting point with the Fuji X-E3. Thanks to Mr. Roesch 2021 Hamlin Library CalendarAs another fundraiser for the Hamlin Library, we have produced a 2021 calendar with photos of the cars. The calendar includes 12 all new photos of the front of cars in the Bahre collection from 1910 - 1953. Mecum Car Auctions has provided support for the production of this calendar. Calendars will be available at the Founder's Day event this Saturday, July 17 and later through the library and other places. Contact the Hamlin Library to get your copy. 207-743-2980 [email protected]
What do you think? If you cannot acquire a calendar, please contact me. 2021 Hamlin Library Founder's Day PosterThis event is back for 2021 and here is the poster!
If you can't read it in the small size, the car is a 1930 Packard 745 Convertible Sedan by Dietrich. Here is a look behind the scenes at the photo session last November.
Without a polarizing filter to remove windshield glare. With the polarizing filter. As you can see, we tried a few different settings.
Taken at the "wrong" angle, and this long car looks very short.
With the light disappearing, the car heads off into the sunset. On the other side of the gate in the background are the buildings where the cars are stored. This Saturday cars will be on display inside (and outside, weather permitting) those buildings.
Here is the driver's seat of this car.
A promotional banner announcing the event will be on display in town. Here is the car photograph on the banner.
This 1947 Delahaye 135-M Roadster by Figoni & Falaschi was the subject of the 2014 poster. There is another fundraiser as part of this event and I'll explain that in the next post. Mount Avalon in winterMount Avalon is on the south side of Crawford Notch.
